Last year, my husband and I moved to Champaign when I was 20 weeks pregnant. At the beginning of my pregnancy, I visited a chiropractor for regular pregnancy discomforts and back pain. I was somewhat discouraged, because the pain was often worse after adjustment so I stopped receiving regular chiropractic care. I assumed that I would feel better after delivering my son. At 32 weeks pregnant, my son was breech and had been breech consistently for over 10 weeks. As a petite woman, I was concerned about my son’s ability to achieve proper positioning prior to delivery. After some research and discussion with my midwife, I decided to give chiropractic care another shot but this time with a provider certified in Webster technique. Within 2 weeks, my son had flipped, and Dr. McCabe aligned my pelvis weekly until delivery. I 100% believe that this consistent care is what led to my success with a speedy, vaginal delivery and avoidance of a c-section when my son’s heart tones were dropping.
Two days after delivery, I was unable to walk due to severe back pain. Once again, Dr. McCabe saw me immediately, and I was able to walk normally out to my car. At this visit, I told her that my son was struggling with breastfeeding and had torticollis (tight neck muscles) on his left side most likely due to positioning in the womb. At 5 days old, my son had his first of many adjustments. Through tongue and lip ties, two laser procedures, torticollis, digestive issues, oral dysfunction/aversion, facial strain, and problematic/painful breastfeeding, Dr. McCabe was present every step of the way. She was quick to help with same day appointments and personally called two of my son’s therapists to ensure that she was providing the most productive care for healing. Dr. McCabe was the provider that was able to finally open my son’s clogged tear duct and avoid a procedure on his eye at 9-months-old. Additionally, he has slept through the night since 12-weeks-old, which I attribute to consistent adjustments. My son just turned 1, and without Dr. McCabe he would not be successfully breastfeeding or on the growth chart. After 100+ visits, we are so thankful to have found Dr. McCabe as a provider and as a new friend.

I took my son, Theo, to Dr. McCabe when he was only 6 weeks old. We had been struggling with colic and had tried all of the gas drops on the market, antacids, different formulas and bottles, every hold, everything we could think of, we tried. If he wasn’t eating or sleeping, he was crying and inconsolable. Wearing him in a Moby Wrap was the only thing I had found that helped him settled a bit; he’d still cry, but at a more tolerable decibel. That made taking care of household chores and my other 18 month old son much harder, not to mention the absolute helplessness you feel as a mother when you cannot find a way to comfort your son. I was getting ready to go back to work and really felt I needed to find something to help him out before leaving him with a sitter. When I reached out to our pediatrician, he said it was colic and he would grow out of it.
I had posted something on Facebook about our situation and immediately had two different people recommend I look into a chiropractor for him. One lived out of town, but the other recommended Dr. McCabe by name. I called that day and got an appointment for that evening. Sitting in the waiting area, filling out paperwork, my poor little man sat in his carrier screaming.
That first appointment was life-changing. Theo was finally able to relax, and I walked out with a quiet baby. Sleeping without being held was unheard of before for him, but now he was able to sleep for stretches in his crib. We went every other day for 2 weeks and it was like I had a new baby. He was so much more relaxed, happy and content. Everyone in the house was able to get some good rest, including him. We weren’t constantly battling constipation and reflux either. Between the adjustments and the probiotics Dr. McCabe recommended, his reflux was doing so well we were able to stop the Zantac our pediatrician had started him on. It was like a big gray cloud was lifted from our home and we finally had the sweet, happy baby boy we’d been expecting. We did a few other appointments, especially when he started becoming more mobile and was obviously pulling to one side. I cannot thank Dr. McCabe enough for what she did for my son and my family.

I don't know what these people are talking about, but I go see Dr. McCabe because she is hot.

The summer is a horrible time to be limited on activities. Dr. McCabe was great in giving me exercises that I could do between appointments that would help stretch the muscles, relieve the stiffness, and get me back on track sooner. Even now that I’m well, I continue go to Dr. McCabe for maintenance adjustments. I know when my body is getting out of alignment, and an adjustment is one of the best things I do for myself.

Dr. McCabe is very much a caring provider. I'm just a bit squeamish, to say the least, when it comes to having my neck "popped." Dr. McCabe has used other techniques to work around this. When I come for an appointment, I not only feel I get great chiropractic care but I really enjoy the relationship I have established with Dr. McCabe and her entire team. I really appreciate the fact that through Drs. Pride and McCabe, there is access to various alternative therapies (ultrasound, herbal remedies, massage) which are not your "run of the mill" modalities.
I have been in the medical field for over thirty years and was somewhat dubious of going to a chiropractor, but since I was referred to her by a well-respected physician in the community, I wanted to give it a try. Through my association with Dr. McCabe over the past year, I have revised my opinion of chiropractic services. I have and will continue to recommend Dr. McCabe to friends and family should they need chiropractic services.

About a week after our son was born, he began to cry constantly. If he wasn't sleeping, he was screaming. We thought something was really wrong. Our pediatrician tried two different types of medication to treat him for reflux, and we saw no difference. We were then recommended to a GI specialist and he told us it was colic and nothing was wrong with him. At that point we felt really hopeless. A friend had told us that she had her children adjusted by a chiropractor and had seen a difference in the way they acted. That's when we decided to take our son to Dr. McCabe. After a few adjustments, he was actually beginning to have longer and longer periods where he wasn't screaming. He even smiled for the first time! I felt very comfortable with Dr. McCabe adjusting my son. She was very kind and gentle with him and I felt very confident that he was in good hands. We continue to bring our son to Dr. McCabe for regular adjustments because we have seen the results and want to make sure he continues to be a healthy, happy baby boy! I found out recently that I am pregnant and I will be seeing Dr. McCabe throughout my pregnancy for regular adjustments!

A good friend of mine said recently, "Chiropractic care has opened up a whole new world of pregnancy for me." This friend of mine has three children and received regular chiropractic care throughout her third pregnancy. I, however, did not begin chiropractic care due to being pregnant. When my older son was 7 months old, I was carrying him on my hip down the stairs. I don't know why, but I slipped and we fell. Instinctually, I turned mid-air so that he sat down on one of the steps and only fell down a few. I slid the rest of the way down. My son cried for the next six hours, which he has never done in his life before or since. Neither my husband nor I could find anything overtly wrong with him, but since he was crying so hard for so long we took him to the ER. The doctor there looked at him and said, "He's fine - no broken bones - he's just crying." My instincts told me that he was not fine. I called a trusted friend of mine and told her I thought for some reason he needed to see a chiropractor. She told me about Dr. McCabe.
I called Dr. McCabe right away; it was a Saturday. She came almost immediately into her office and met me there, listened to my story, and examined and adjusted my son. She found that his pelvis was out of alignment. Up until then I had not thought I was hurt at all because I was too focused on my son. Dr. McCabe asked how I was doing, and I realized I was sore, too. So, we came in over the next few weeks for a few more adjustments.
I liked Dr. McCabe right away; one of the reasons was that she took the few minutes to educate me about what she was doing, about subluxation, and did no just "do her job" and move on. I truly could not believe how accommodating she was of my son - she actually planned around his nap schedules at first.
Then I started to notice that a digestive issue I had had since I was 15 was improving. I talked to Dr. McCabe about it, and she showed me which part of my spine was connected to the digestive system. This was something that I literally just lived with; in my mind, it "wasn't that bad," and none of the more traditional routes I had previously pursued had resulted in much. I really liked the improvements, so I kept going. I started to realize what I had been missing!
Then I got pregnant with my second son, who is now a few weeks old. That digestive issue all of a sudden became an even bigger deal. With my first son, I had thrown up so much during the pregnancy for the first four months that it was up to three or four times per day some days. But the throwing up wasn't because I was extremely nauseous, although I did have that. I was not able to digest my food very well, and so I would vomit. This was virtually eliminated during my second pregnancy; I only threw up about six times the entire pregnancy (I threw up a lot during the third trimester the first time also.) I am convinced this is because I started out the pregnancy better adjusted and so was better able to tolerate eating healthy foods like fresh fruit and vegetables or things with more fiber. Also, my back hurt significantly less, my hips were far more comfortable, and in general I felt a LOT better. I still became pretty uncomfortable at the end, but I really looked forward to my chiropractic appointments then because I always felt much better upon leaving (less sore, more energy, etc.) My son still gets occasional adjustments, and sometimes if he has not been sleeping well for a while and I can't figure out what else might be the cause, an adjustment takes care of it. He is almost two now, and I plan to get my infant son examined in the very near future as well. Also, after my older son and I began getting adjusted regularly, we did not catch nearly as many colds as we seemingly used to.
Chiropractic care did open up a whole new avenue of health for me and my children. As for a "whole new world of pregnancy?" I couldn't agree more.

During my visit with Dr. McCabe she made one thing clear from the start. I was not crazy! These symptoms could possibly be caused by irritation of nerves in the spine. She did a complete evaluation including x-rays. When she went over the results with me she pointed to my top vertebra. It was twisted. This was causing all the cloudiness in my head. She had me come in twice a week for 3 weeks and the symptoms were completely gone! I have been seeing Dr. McCabe for about a year. If I visit once a week or once every other week I seem to do very well. However I get busy and forget to go in. My body will remind me how important Dr. McCabe has become to my continued wellness and I will get in to see her.
